First edition of the book "Arcane 17" by French writer André Breton, published in only 300 copies in New York. It also includes four color plates depicting tarot cards, made by the Chilean surrealist painter Roberto Sebastian Matta.
It was during a stay in Percé, in 1944, that André Breton found inspiration and began writing "Arcane 17".
André Breton is the author of the Surrealism Manifesto, an important artistic movement of the 20th century, whose influence was felt in several countries. Think in particular of the poets Louis Aragon and Paul Éluard, or the painters René Magritte and Salvador Dali.
